CWL+ investment management contracts

The Contracts Word List (CWL) contains lemmas that are both prevalent and specialized in U.S. business contracts (2000-2022).

The CWL+ is an expansion of the CWL, containing lemmas that are distinctive of each of the 54 individual contract sub-types. The length of each list varies from 11 lemmas (Assignment of Contract sub-type) to 523 lemmas (Property Lease sub-type) (M=211.06 lemmas; SD=141.02). Within each list, lemmas are accompanied by their part of speech and frequency information (frequency per million words in the contract sub-type, log-likelihood keyness statistic, target range calculated by computing the number of texts that contain the lemma in that contract sub-type [max=50], CEBC range calculated by computing the number of texts that contain the lemma across the other 53 contract sub-types [max=2,650], and ratio calculated by dividing the target range by the full corpus range). These lists have been validated by computing stability confidence intervals through bootstrapping, calculating percent coverage statistics, and conducting qualitative situational analyses of each (sub)register.
