Digital Science List

The Digital Science List (DSL) was compiled from a 2.7-million-word corpus comprising 3,456 digital science resources used in middle-school education. The list contains 412 word types and provides 8.64% lexical coverage of the corpus. In addition to technical scientific terminology, it includes a substantial number of general English words that take on specialized meanings in scientific contexts. Covering vocabulary commonly encountered across major school science domains, including life science, physical science, and earth and space science, the DSL reflects the vocabulary found in digital science materials used at middle schools.
