Core Medical List

The Core Medical List (CoMeL) is a medical vocabulary list which provides higher replicability in medical contexts when compared with other medicine-specific word lists (MWL, MAWL, or MAVL) while also including more items. The whole list provides ESL/EFL learners with a resource containing 2881 lemmas occurring at frequencies above 10 per million words. It is designed to assist ESL/EFL healthcare professionals who aim to practice medicine in the US or the UK and who need to sit medical licensing examinations premised on mastery of the medical terminology used in English language textbooks.
